Manufacturers of p-Video STB (DVR/NVR) for Broadcasters, Home
Entertainment, Carriers and Service Providers:

Precoad's market-driven multi-function p-Video STB (DVR/NVR) product solution
is standards-compliant, and strategic and timely to video STB, DVD recorder,
NVR, and video network providers, as well as mobile.  The new p-Video
functionalities create significant differentiation and competitive advantage across
existing STB, DVD recorder, and NVR product lines.  The rich p-Video product
solution combines VMG and video zoom/pan functionalities with other additional
breakthrough capabilities.  This culminates in an ultimate multi-function p-Video
STB product feature slate that expands the video STB, DVR, NVR, or home
entertainment center to an intelligent interactive video server that enables at least
the following functions:

(1)  Functionally independent of broadcasters, service providers, and carriers.
The new p-Video functionalities are additional to existing features, and none of the
existing feature sets are lost or eliminated.  p-Video works seamlessly,
transparently, and are compliant with home networking standards such as
CableLabs’ CableHome.  This enables evolutionary rollout and deployment
whereby broadcasters, carriers, and service providers can deploy rich p-Video
functionalities from the STB, rather than from their headend servers.  In other
words, their headend servers can basically remain untouched.

(2)  VMG and video zoom/pan functionalities with instant replay, fast
forward/backward, skipping scenes, slow-motion, and freezing frame capabilities.
As an intelligent interactive video STB that inherently includes these “Tivo” type
functions, video from broadcasting, DVD, and NVR are converted to p-Video
format for multi-resolution, multiple-device viewing with all of these individual
viewer-selected p-Video super-functionalities.

(3)  p-Video STB allows multi-resolution, multiple users to view the same live
broadcast or DVD (with un-noticeable delay) anywhere, anytime, particularly on
mobile handheld video devices, TV, or PC, with individual-viewer selected p-Video
super-functionalities.  With these capabilities, it is a p-Video high video-quality
“Slingbox”.  This enables p-Video super-functionality multi-resolution, multiple-
user viewing “anywhere outside the home”, “anywhere in the home”, at any time,
on mobile handheld video devices, notebooks, PCs, or TVs.

(4)  p-Video STB converts broadcast video stream, DVD, and NVR video content
to p-Video format to fit lower-resolution digital TV or to zoom in on mobile display
devices, without distortion, while simultaneously empowering individual viewers
with the VMG, CVLG, and video zoom/pan functionalities.  This thereby allows
individual viewers to adjust the setting for video to fit the width of a widescreen TV
or handheld device display, thereby eliminating the black vertical bars that appear
on either side of the video known as pillars.  It does so without stretching or
distorting the video imagery, by ignoring (and not de-coding) the viewer-decided
or unnecessary top and bottom (or left and right) boundaries.

(5)  These large and existing market sectors are positioned to accelerate,
especially with the advent of mobile video over cellular, internet, WIFI, FMC, UMA,
and WiMax, as well as existing PC and TV displays.
